Temple Run has everyone I know hooked. Even people who are anti-iphones or people who don’t own iphones, love to play this game. Temple run is now the number one free iOS game while also being the top grossing iOS game. Imangi Studios recently revealed that Temple Run has hit 20 million downloads. Temple Run has been out on the market for just 5 months, but now receives 500,000 downloads a day.

If you haven’t played it already, you play as an explorer running through an ancient temple, chased by a group of monkeys. To play you must swipe and tilt the iphone, controlling the player. You play to beat your high score and pass your friends high scores for bragging rights.

Imangi Studios had a specific design style in mind when creating the game. “We wanted to make Temple Run feel like it was designed for iOS rather than ported from a console, where you’re using virtual joysticks”. And they definitely succeeded.

“There’s no barrier to downloading it, and it can be fully played without having to buy anything”. That is what makes this game such a hit. There is no need to pay any money and buy power-ups. All you must do is pick up coins as you run. Once you pick up a certain amount of coins you can earn power-ups or unlock other characters in the store.
